Astral Polytechnik will soon introduce Cross linked polyethylene pipes, PEX-A in the Indian market. The product is targeted at the premium residential/commercial space as it costs three times the normal CPVC pipes. But this requires 40-50% less fittings than in the case of normal pipes. As a result, fixing and fitting of PEX pipes will be much easier than in the case of conventional pipes. Flexibility on tight bend radius, dry-fit connections (leak resistant, water tight) etc. are some other benefits of PEX pipes. PEX-A will have extra oxygen and chlorine barrier to prevent rust from developing and also to avoid degradation from sunlight.
Astral will also be producing Double Wall Corrugated (DWC) pipes which will be used for underground drainage system. The company will be producing 600mm -1200mm diameter pipes which can replace the bigger diameter RCC pipes. These pipes will be manufactured at its Jaipur and Ahmedabad plants. With the government giving increased emphasis on urban development and smart cities, there will be increased demand for such pipes and Astral will be trying tap that market.
The company is also planning to introduce water conservation solutions which are presently under pilot stage. Once these solutions produce favourable results the same will be launched on commercial scale.
Astral last month commenced commercial production at Ghiloth Plant, Rajasthan. In this plant which is situated in Alwar district, the company will be producing CPVC /PVC pipes . The new plant has annual capacity of 22,700 MT.
