Hyderabad based mattress manufacturer, Shree Malani Foams, has achieved the distinction of becoming the first supplier of mattresses from the country to Swedish furniture maker, IKEA. IKEA which has big plans for India will be not only sourcing mattresses from Shree Malani Foams to meet its Indian requirements but also the mattresses supplied by the firm will be shipped to IKEA stores around the world too.
It may be recalled here that IKEA will be opening its first store in India at Hyderabad soon which will be followed by stores in Mumbai and Bengaluru. The global furniture giant has committed to invest Rs 25,000 crore in India over next few years to set up its stores in Indian cities.
Shree Malani Foams has set up new mattress manufacturing facility with an investment of Rs 15 crore in Shankarampet, Medak. It has a capacity to make 1.2 lakh mattresses. The first batch of products were despatched from this facility last month to Dubai. Apart from Middle East, company’s products may be shipped to South East Asia. IKEA has indicated its inclination to source its requirements exceeding mandatory 3o% from local sources.
