The Evolution of Office Furniture Design

For us, the word “ergonomics” evokes images of impressive office chairs, sit-stand work tools, and diagrams with specific measurements and angles pertaining to the human body at work. But its roots stretch to history; it goes way back to 460 – 370 BC when Hippocrates wrote the work guidelines for the surgical process, where-in he emphasized and detailed the importance of proper operating posture, lighting, and arrangement of worktools for the surgeon.
