The Telangana Rashtra Samithi government in Talangana is planning to construct a model township with 15,600 double bedroom flats at Kollur near Tellapur. The township will have all the amenities like schools, medical facilities, commercial establishments, police, fire and bus station facilities. Foundation stone for the project will be laid soon and the project when completed will house 75,000 people.
The state government has an ambitious goal of constructing one lakh double bedroom flats by year-end in Hyderabad. The tender process for these projects have already been completed. The state’s housing project popularly known as “DBR Housing” which aims at providing 560-sft two bedroom houses to the slum dwellers. Also, the state government provides several incentives and relaxations to provide 560-sft houses. The government’s target is to construct one lakh DBR houses in Hyderabad and for this several relaxations like setback, road-width norms, parking areas are given wherever land is available.
To construct DBR houses, the government is giving sand for free and cement at fixed price of Rs 230 per bag. Steel was promised at Rs 32,000 per tonne. As the steel price has gone up steeply in recent months to Rs 57,000 per tonne, now the government has re-negotiated the price and fixed it at Rs 37,000 per tonne.
