The master plan would promote the use of innovative technology and structural design will be done keeping in mind the sensitivity of the location. The master plan will also provide for phasewise development of the campus and while doing so sustainable building principles and practices will be followed.
It may be recalled here that the AP government in 2017 had decided to hand over 202 acres of land for the project in Visakhapatnam district, free of cost. However, the land had not been formally handed over to IIPE since some legal issues were pending in the High Court. Now those issues have been almost settled with the state government handing over 175 acres of land recently. Remaining land is expected to be handed over to IIPE shortly.
“A sum of Rs. 72.50 crore has been released to IIPE for pre project activities. It takes about two years from the date of handing over of encumbrance free land to provide necessary infrastructure for construction of permanent campus,” Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas had told in the Loksabha in December last year.
The project will be completed in phases. In the first phase classrooms for undergraduate and post graduate students will be built. There will be separate lab facilities for various departments.
