The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N Chandrababu Naidu has reportedly roped in Baahubali director SS Rajamouli to give the architects, involved in designing AP Legislature and Secretariat buildings, ideas about integrating Andhra culture with their designs. Rajamouli is known for his works primarily in Telugu cinema and his films are noted for their technical finesse and craft. The film Baahubali was known for its expensive and animated sets which took viewers back to mythological era.
It may be recalled here that Norman Foster, the founder-chairman of London-based Foster + Partners, had submitted four concept designs of the government buildings to be constructed in the core capital Amaravati in March this year. Naidu who is currently in London, has seen designs prepared by Foster + Partners for the AP Legislature and Secretariat buildings and a final decision is likely to be taken soon.
Models of the capital city have been made available on social media to elicit the feedback of people. Decision on these models is also likely to be taken very soon.
Amaravati is the de facto capital city of Andhra Pradesh. The planned city is located on the southern banks of the Krishna river in Guntur district, within the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region. The foundation stone for the new capital city was laid on 22 October 2015, at Uddandarayunipalem area by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
