Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) a UNESCO World Heritage Building will soon be illuminated with green energy. The Central Railway has decided, as a part of its green initiative, to use green energy in the CSMT heritage building and other office buildings of various divisions of Central Railway.
It may be recalled here that the Central Railway recently entered into an agreement with Pavan Energy Pvt Ltd, a government of India undertaking, to provide power at Rs 5.18 per unit and the same energy will be used in the CSMT building.
Under this agreement the power of 6 MegaWatt green energy generated by Wind Turbine by Pavan Energy Pvt. Ltd will be utilised at six different stations of Central Railway and South Eastern Railway. The wind turbines are currently being commissioned at Sangli district of Maharashtra. A Total of 12.93 million units green energy is expected to be generated that will be utilised for the full energy consumption of Heritage building of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and other office buildings of various divisions. An estimated amount of Rs. 1.5 Crores will be saved on electricity bill through this agreement.
