Della Tower in Dadar Parsi Colony in Mumbai will be a unique one both in terms of design and theme. This 20-storey tower will have its own fire temple! A fire temple in Zoroastrianism is the place of worship for Zoroastrians, that is, Parsis. In Mumbai, there are about 50 fire temples.
Della Tower is a 20 storey building designed by Architect Jimmy Mistry in Dadar Parsi Colony. Incidentally, Mistry is also a resident of the Della Tower. Mistry drew inspiration from Persian architecture and the ancient Achaemenian style of building for this tower.
Unconsecrated fire to be installed by high priest on ground floor of high rise. The fire temple will have a fulltime priest who will be accessible by youngsters who are interested in knowing more about the religion.
The tower will also house a Persian exhibition centre on the ground floor by next year. The centre will have a collection of documentary and pictorial references and depictions of Parsi history.
