Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation along with Urban Development department of Telangana has decided to crackdown on illegal constructions in the city of Hyderabad. The Corporation will use drones to survey the buildings to identify the illegal constructions in the city.
It is believed that illegal constructions are thriving in the city due to lack of surveillance, lack of manpower and corruption in town planning department.
For the first time, a drone survey is being planned to identify illegal structures. Initially, drone survey will focus on illegal structures that have come up in 1,000sqm and above.
Surveillance will be started as pilot program in Serlingampally and Chandanagar areas as most of the constructions in these areas are of five floors and above and built on 1,000sqm.
Unauthorized structures continue unabated in Hyderabad even after introduction of mortgage rule and mandatory occupancy certificate. It is noticed that some builders are raising illegal structures after obtaining occupancy certificate to get their mortgage portion released from municipal corporation.
