First grid connected rooftop solar system of Goa

Gomantak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya and Research Centre has become the first institute in Goa to have rooftop solar system synchronized since the Goa government’s net metering policy came in to effect. Orb Energy successfully installed and commissioned a 30 kilowatt rooftop solar system at the Institute recently. This is the first grid connected rooftop solar system in Goa.

Orb’s rooftop solar systems provide commercial, industrial and institutional customers a three- to four-year payback without any subsidy which turns out to be an attractive return on investment on an unsubsidized solar power system. Because many businesses and institutions in India can only afford rooftop solar with finance, Orb offers a collateral-free solar loan that matches the payback period – after which all their power from solar is effectively free.

Thanks to this project, the Institute can now hope to produce an average of approximately 50,400 units of clean solar electricity per year, and expect to save around Rs 1.5 lakhs per annum in electricity costs.
