Glass House at Kuppanna Park in Mysuru -min
Modelled along the lines of the Glass House at Lalbagh in Bengaluru, the Glass House at Kuppanna Park, popularly known as Nishat Bagh, will be opened for public soon. Rs 7.18 crore project was initially taken up by the Horticulture Department later on handed over to the public works department (PWD). A Bengaluru-based firm, Nikitha Build-Tech Pvt Ltd, has bagged the contract to do the work. Fabrication work on the Glass House has already been completed. The Glass House will be thrown open to public either at the end of January or in the beginning of February.
Kuppanna Park has become an ideal tourist spot thanks to its location near to the Mysuru Palace and Zoo. And, opening of the Glass House will become another tourist attraction. Kuppanna Park is also popular because of the flower show held every year during Mysuru Dasara. Musical fountain is another attraction of this park. However, entry for this fountain is restricted due to ongoing work of the Glass House.
The Glass House has been built on a platform raised to a height of 1.5-m. The height of the structure, which has as many as four points of entry, is 21-m, and is spread across 2,149-sq.m. The dome of the structure will reflect the architecture of the surrounding Palace domes. The structure will house various exotic plants.
