The government wants to speed up and smplify the process of finalisation of the schemes and take decision at the earliest. Incidentally, the Chief Minister himself is in charge of the Urban Development Department. The government has decided to finalise the pending TPs first and then amend TP Act so that the changes in the finalisation process are perpetuated. The government is also planning to allow people’s participation to avoid cases of conflict of interest.

The state government has also decided to complete recruitment of 70 junior town planners and immediate posting of 20 junior town planners. The government will also appoint senior town planners in municipal corporations of Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot. Senior town planners will be empowered to take quick decisions and convert the regional offices in Ahmedabad, Vadodadra, Rajkot and Mehsana into state offices.
