HC appoints architect to inspect 4 New Cuffe Parade flats

Bombay High Court has appointed an architect to check the veracity of claims made by a buyer about the poor quality of construction. The architect will inspect four flats in a plush New Cuffe Parade project in Mumbai suburb to find out whether the quality of construction is sub-standard. New Cuffe Parade project is one of the prestigious projects of leading realtor, Lodha Developers.

As per the court order, the defendants have been permitted to remain present with their architect at the time of inspection. The court appointed architect will also visit a similar flat to compare the work done in that flat with that of those sold to the defendants. After inspection, the architect will give a report on the condition of the flats, and listing the defects, if any, and also mention possible cause for them.

It may be noted here that one of the buyers of flats from Lodha Developers in New Cuffe Parade project had complained about the poor quality of the construction done by the Lodha on social media. Another buyer had uploaded the video showing the defective construction on social media. Lodha Developers had filed a defamation case against both parties in the Bombay High Court.

In the mean time, the High Court has directed the defendants not to upload any videos or write any blogs regarding the developer or its group of companies.
