Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Visakhapatnam has finalised the Project Management Consultant for development of a permanent campus for the Institute. The Institute has awarded Rs 463 crore the PMC contract to Navratna public sector undertaking NBCC (India) Limited.
Speaking on the development, Dr. Anoop Kumar Mittal, CMD, NBCC said, “The Company has extensive experience in delivering world class educational and healthcare institutes. Sustainable development is our constant endeavour, which we institutionalise right from the concept stage and ensure quality and timely delivery.”
It is worth mentioning that NBCC has undertaken several significant projects in educational infrastructure segment, the prominent ones being IIT Delhi, IIT Mandi, IIT Roorkee, NIFTEM, ICI, HQ and Regional Offices of CBSE to name a few.
PMC contract is for Phase 1 of the project only which will include Academic, Residential and Admin Blocks as well as Library, Labs, Sports and other common facilities. To be developed on a total area of 230.25-acres with built-up area of 60,384-sq.m, the company will complete the project within 30 months.
IIM Visakhapatnam is a new generation IIM, set up by the Government of India in September 2015. Presently, the Institute is located in its temporary/transit campus located in the Andhra University campus. The proposed campus, state-of-the-art one, will be in the vicinity of the upcoming green-field international airport, about 25-km from the present (temporary/transit) campus. The first phase of the new facility is expected to be functional by 2021.
