Jayanand Potdar, a well-known professional in real estate sector, has joined Reliance Industries Ltd as President. He will be in charge of Real Estate Development of India’s largest private sector company. Potdar will be stationed in Mumbai from where he will look after the business vertical.
Jayanand Potdar brings with him over 30 years of experience of working with some of the best brands in the Indian Real Estate & Construction segment. Before joining Reliance Industries, Potdar was Chief Operating Officer at Godrej Properties where he had worked for five years and was responsible for all project related functions including engineering, costing and budgeting, monitoring, safety, quality, contracts, procurement, innovation, planning and project execution. Before that he was associated with Sobha Developers Ltd, Hindustan Construction Company Ltd, Nagarjuna Construction Company Ltd, UB Engineering Ltd, Buckau Wolf India Ltd, in various leadership roles.
This is Potdar’s second stint at Reliance. Earlier in 2006 he had worked for the company for a brief period of nine months as General Manager, Contracts.
In February, Reliance Industries had acquired a 65% stake in The Indian Film Combine Pvt. Ltd, which is building a drive-in theatre, hotel, retail mall and club on a 12-acre plot at Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex for Rs. 1,105 crore. With its investment in The Indian Film Combine, real estate is a new segment that the company is planning to venture into.
