MPPWD to hold open competition for Gandhi Medical College design

Madhya Pradesh PWD is holding an open competition for preparation of drawing and design for construction/upgradation of existing Gandhi Medical College at Bhopal. Though  the college was started in 1955, it was moved to its own building in 1963 which is considered to be a beautiful piece of architecture and craftsmanship. Now this building will be rebuilt/renovated to accommodate the present and future needs.

The Project Implementation Unit under the administrative control of MPCPWD will procure planning, designing, detailed project report and services for the project based on the competition on a fixed fee basis of 2% of cost of work.

Architectural concept design should be on suitable scale (1:100 or 1:200). Design concept shall necessarily include statement of areas of each floor of each block/unit/wing. Design concept should indicate scope for horizontal or vertical expansion or else indicate reasons for no scope for future expansion. Though the walk through is optional, 3D -view from all sides is a must as per the NIT.

The NIT also states that design innovation, use of green building concept, use of local materials, plan that does not pre-empt future expansion, comparative study with best known buildings of similar type etc shall be given credit for innovation.

Further, environmental, public opinion, accessibility, suitability of site, impact on surrounding natural and built-up area etc. should also be suitably covered.  Details of invitation notice is available at www.mppwd.gov.in.
