NPCC is now a Category –I Miniratna

National Projects Construction Corporation Limited (NPCC) has been conferred with the status of Miniratna : Category –I by the Government of India. The empowerment of Miniratna Status to NPCC will help the company in taking speedy decisions by enhancing the delegation of powers to the Board. The Central Government has set eligibility criteria for granting Maharatna, Navaratna and Miniratna status to Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs).

Those CPSEs which fulfil the following two criteria are eligible to be considered for grant of Miniratna status.

  1. The CPSEs which have made profits in the last 3 years continuously
  2. The CPSEs which have positive net worth

NPCC, a schedule ‘B’ CPSE under the administrative control of Ministry of Water Resources RD & GR, has also been awarded ISO 9001:2015 Certification. The Corporation,  incorporated in 1957, is a premier construction company having mandate with creation of infrastructure to provide impetus for economic development of the country.

NPCC is mainly concerned with the creation of necessary infrastructure for economic development of the country in the core sectors of irrigation and water resources, power and heavy industries. Its administrative control was transferred from Ministry of Irrigation and Power to Ministry Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation (earlier named as Ministry of Water Resources) in 1989. In its 61 years of existence the Corporation has successfully associated itself with completion of several National Projects from concept to commissioning stage. Some of them in remote and hazardous location over the country. Besides completion of projects in India and contributing to the socioeconomic growth of country, the corporation has also successfully executed several overseas projects. The corporation has also been awarded credit rating as A+ company by ICRA.
