Professional movement in urban planning

Reflecting the hectic activities in the urban and city planning/development, professional movement in the sector too is witnessing steep increase in activities. Here is the list of some of the professional movements in the sector in recent times.

Mahendra Ahirwar is now Urban Planner at Spatial Decisions. Mahendra is an Urban Planner with a new insight of planning to achieve and promote goals of sustainable development. Mahendra is BTech in City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology and Master of Planning in Town & Country Planning from College of Engineering, Pune.

Manas Kanti Maji has been appointed as Lead Urban Designer at Fortress Infracon Limited. Presently he is working on Srinagar Smart City project. Manas is an experienced Architect and Urban Designer graduated from IIEST, Shibpur (formerly known as BESU, Shibpur). He has done his Masters in urban design from School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi.

Nishant Raj Tonk has been appointed as Fellow – Indian Smart Cities Mission in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and is working under the overall supervision of the joint secretary & Mission Director (SCM-MoHUA), Director (SCM-MoHUA), and Director, NIUA. Nishant has done BArch from Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, post graduation diploma in urban planning and development, City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning from Indira Gandhi National Open University and M Tech in Infrastructure Design and Management from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.

Priyanshu Raj has been appointed as Fellow – Indian Smart Cities Mission in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Priyanshu’s focus is on varied domains like sustainable development, infrastructure planning, innovative financing, and urban mobility. Priyanshu has done Bachelor of Planning in Urban and Regional Planning, M Tech Infrastructure Design and Management from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and DAAD Funded Research Project, Transportation Modelling and Simulation from Technical University of Munich.

Vishal Prasad has been appointed as Assistant Town Planner for Rajasthan Government. Vishal is an urban and regional planner specialized in transport planning. Vishal has done Bachelors of Planning in City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology.
