Professional movements in Urban Planning

As India is marching ahead with her rapid urbanisation programs, professional movements in Urban Planning and related fields also picking up pace. Here is the list of some recent professional movements in Urban Planning.

Aparajita Singh is now Fellow at National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA), Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Aparajita is B Tech from SRM and Masters in Development studies from Tata Institute of Social Sciences.

Ashwathy Anand has been promoted as Senior Program Associate – Urban Water Resilience at WRI India. Ashwathy is an urban development practitioner working in the intersection of water and cities. She is B Arch from School of Planning & Architecture Bhopal, has Fellowship in Urban Studies/Affairs from Indian Institute for Human Settlements and MSc in Urban Regeneration, City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning from UCL.

Genesia R has been appointed as Senior Research Associate at The Urban Works Institute. Genesia is passionate about policy research on urban mobility, urban local self-governance and Indian constitution. She is MA in Philosophy from Indira Gandhi National Open University and has Masters Degree in Public Policy from National Law School of India University.

Meghna Bandelwar Indurkar has been appointed as Program Manager at Praja Foundation, an organisation that undertakes extensive research and highlights civic issues to build the awareness of, and mobilise action by the government and elected representatives. Meghna is B Arch from Rachana Sansad’s Academy of Architecture, MOOC in Sustainable Cities from Indian Institute for Human Settlements and M Tech in Urban Development and Management from TERI School of Advanced Studies.

Monica Thakur has been appointed as Program Associate, BASIIC at National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA). She is proficient in urban governance in water and heritage sector. Monica is B Arch from Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute of Architecture and Environmental Studies.

Preeti Yadav has been appointed as Assistant Manager in Urban Planning Project and Business Development at Rudrabhishek Enterprises Ltd. Preeti is a strong arts and design professional with a Master’s degree in City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning from Lovely Professional University.

Sushmita Shekar, urban designer in Skidmore, Owings & Merrill’s (SOM) San Francisco studio, has been nominated as a 2022 Local Pathway Fellow by the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network. During the year-long fellowship, she will facilitate dialog with local urbanists and stakeholders, and generate a framework for the regional Sustainable Development Goals. Sushmita has done her B Arch from RV College Of Engineering and Master of Science in Architecture and Urban Design from Columbia University in the City of New York.
