The Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA)is mulling Chandigarh like sector-wise development of the temple city. TUDA officials recently conducted a study tour to learn about the best practices being implemented across the country and arrived at the conclusion that sector-wise development is best suited to the city and implementing a similar idea or action plan, tailor-made to the existing requirements, could go a long way in contributing towards development of Tirupati.
Accordingly, TUDA has identified areas such as Srikalahasthi-Renigunta, Puttur-Nagari, Rayalacheruvu Road and Chandragiri for the establishment of 10-12 sectors and would develop these areas once all the modalities were worked out.
Special efforts will be made to reduce traffic congestion in the city. Also, land in all the nine mandals would be used to develop facilities based on the needs of the region. A Family Entertainment Centre at an estimated cost of Rs 25 crore is planned at the centre of the city. The project would be developed within two years from the zero date. The project will be developed under PPP mode. The facility would house a multiplex, commercial complexes, food courts and several other amenities.
