Udaipur known for its lakes, culture, heritage, forts, monuments and Mewar architecture will be giving a new look to Manikya Lal Verma Park in the city. As part of smart city initiative, the park will be redeveloped through PPP mode on Design, Build, Operate and Transfer (the “DBFOT”) basis.
The project is proposed to be a multi-activity centre with minimum investment in civil infrastructure of the Park and making the Park as a hub of a range of activities for all age groups and type of tourists and locales. Selected private partner will have the responsibility of redevelopment of MLV Park with improvement in landscaping of the park, development of various activities centre infrastructure and facilities, operation and maintenance of the complete facility for a period of 10 years.
At present, the park is poorly maintained with broken floor tiles and non-functioning lights which need to be fixed and also the place need to be repainted. According to the plan all open and green spaces will be landscaped. Other works to be undertaken are lighting & highlighting of trees, making all fountain and water channel functional, installing garden lights in all parts of the park, improving infrastructure and interior of existing cafe, improving existing dilapidated building and putting it to appropriate reuse, etc. Park will be developed into different zones like aerial zone, kid zone, water zone, adventure zone, etc to attract people from all age groups into the park. Though there are also plans to develop butterfly park, water curtain for laser show at Dudh Talai and underwater walk, these tasks may be taken up later on.
However, lighting & highlighting of at least 100 trees, improvement of all pathways replacing broken tiles, walls, paints and lights along the path and access improvement will be done on priority basis, that is, within six months.
The project will be developed by Udaipur Smart City Ltd, a joint venture company promoted by Government of Rajasthan and Municipal Corporation of Udaipur, who will enter into an agreement with interested private party.
