Neal Aronowitz is a Brooklyn native who now lives in Portland, Oregon. After studying art and architecture in NY and Massachusetts, he founded a successful construction company, all the while building furniture on the side. In 2014, he made the decision to crack open decades of art and design sketchbooks and make real some of the more daring and experimental ideas that had been percolating for years. The initial response has been overwhelming and encouraging, with awards and international recognition for his sculpturally inspired furniture and lighting pieces.
In 2015, he opened his studio, devoted to creating bespoke sculptural furniture and lighting. The Whorl Table, a coffee table in the Whorl Concrete Canvas Series, won the 2017 Azure Magazine People’s Choice Award for Furniture and Lighting. His first lighting design, the Boro Boro Chandelier, was a runner-up at the 2016 LAMP International Lighting Competition.
