The new structure housing Restaurant at the ground floor and banquets at the first and second floor is nestled alongside a 50 year old structure in the plot. The designing challenge was to create a structure which will stand beside the existing structure without diminishing the charm of the old structure and at the same time will be able to hold its own identity.

Considering the above factors the structure was designed using a combination of elements of the bygone era and those of the contemporary style.

The planning and location of the structure within the plot is such that it is well connected to the existing hotel as well as to the ancillary structures within the plot. Thus the restaurant, banquets and the kitchen can be accessed easily and are well connected.

The façade treatment includes materials like stone cladding to give it a traditional touch while the slanted glazed façade lends a modern touch to the elevation. The DGUs used in windows act as a buffer in reducing the noise of heavy vehicular traffic and also lend an added layer of insulation thus reducing dependency on artificial heaters and air conditioning.

The structure is oriented in such a way that it overlooks the central garden space and the main road.

The existing vegetation in and around this space has been retained thus offering enough greenery to cool one’s eyes. All in all, the project has helped in retaining the old customers and been able to woo the new and modern generations equally, due to the blend of traditional and modern ambience in the new structure.
