School of Planning and Architecture, Bhopal (SPAB) and School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada (SPAV), autonomous institutes of National importance established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), have announced admissions to their respective Doctoral and Masters programme in Architecture and Planning. Both are two year full time courses. Both the institutes will conduct the Joint Admission Test. Online submission of applications will start from April 9th and will be allowed till May 4th.  Entrance test (written test and viva) for all post graduate programmes will be held from June 19th-22nd. Entrance test (written test and viva) for all doctoral programmes will be held on June 28th.

There will be four specialisation programmes in Postgraduate Programmes in Architecture, viz.,

  1. Master of Architecture (Conservation) [offered by SPAB]
  2. Master of Architecture (Urban Design) [offered by SPAB]
  3. Master of Architecture (Landscape) [offered by SPAB and SPAV]
  4. Master of Architecture (Sustainable Architecture) [offered by SPAV]

Postgraduate Programmes in Planning include:

  1. Master of Planning (Urban and Regional Planning) [offered by SPAB and SPAV]
  2. Master of Planning (Environmental Planning {Environmental Planning and Management}) [offered by SPAB and SPAV]
  3. Master of Planning (Transport and Logistics Planning {Transportation & Infrastructure Planning}) [offered by SPAB and SPAV]

A Postgraduate Programmes in Design, Master of Design, is also offered for those who have B.Arch / B. Des. / B.E. / B. Tech / Graduate Diploma from NID or B.F.A. (with one year experience) degrees with atleast 60% (or 6.5 CGPA) for General /OBC and 55% (6.0 CGPA) in case of SC/ST/PWD candidates in the qualifying examination.

All the programmes have 20 seats each in both the institutes. Candidates with valid GATE / JRF/CEED score shall be given due weightage in the admission procedure.

Ph.D. programme is offered under various specializations of Architecture and Planning, namely, Urban Planning, Regional Planning, Conservation, Urban Design, Landscape, Environmental Planning, Industrial Design, Urban Governance, Housing and Real Estate, Vernacular Architecture, Urban Economics, Municipal Finance and Universal Design. An applicant must indicate his/her choice of department under which s/he wishes to carry out the research.
